I. she opened her ear

Rain Ears
It begins to l-lover–
the sky stuttering, spelling you wrong
Listen for the (ena)morada sky
bruises s(ee)p(ing)reading
tracing my veins
You told me a-mar
half of a shivering rain-thrum clutched
in your hand, but ears
(cannot) hear here
drowning in the mar (I mar amar)
marred lips taste rain that
can(not) still that pulsing
he(a)re

Wrong Angle

Thunder is the sky mid-laughter
rain what it can’t keep in.

It leaves a smile bent through light
but only when we lie
upside down.

Still Life
I wonder if you shoot someone with a camera
the way a gun does

flash
they flinch

and something leaves them

pinned
to light––

a body held open

no blood, just the click
closing

The Key

We move next to love
rs stitching themselves to
a bridge of locks,
teaching me to swim,
hands open, hands empty

The locks taught me holding on
as rust clung longer than love
rs did.

Beneath it,
in the glittering waves
keys splay out
like a second sky

When you dove
from this bridge
were you seeking the key
to love
or death?
